In case you missed it, Senator Dick Durbin, Democratic from Illinois, gave Wayne LaPierre the good, the bad, and the ugly in their exchange on universal background checks in today’s gun control hearings. If you like the Housewives franchise or Big Brother, the congressional hearings on gun control is making for some good reality tv. The hearings have also produced heart wrenching testimony by Gabby Giffords, former Arizona House of Representatives Member, who was gunned down at a political event in her district.
Mediaite’s Noah Rothman was the first to offer a recap on this fiery exchange between Dick Durbin and Wayne LaPierre. Here is an excerpt:
“National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierreand Illinois Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin engaged in a verbal battle during Wednesday’s congressional hearings on gun violence. When LaPierre explained his and his organization’s objection to universal background checks, Durbin admonished him for missing the point of prohibiting sales to potential criminals.
