Over the last few months, Pinterest has grown into a phenomenon that is really shaping how brands can market and get their messages out in a new and fresh way. Something I found astounding for a platform that’s so new is that in one week there were over 11 million hits. If this doesn’t show you the value of using this new and exciting platform to reach your target audience then I am not sure what will. Anyway let’s look at some of the reasons why you should be marketing on Pinterest right now!

Great at driving traffic
Pinterest-for-B2BThe site had 18.7 million unique visitors in March 2012 and its growing. I think one of the great advantages is how you can ‘deep link’ images back to your website. So if you are a photographer or artist like me then it’s really easy to add image to Pinterest from your website. Some suggest that its even better than Facebook and Twitter at driving traffic back to your website, I will hold judgement but I have to say its growing at a rate of knots so why not?

Users love it
For such a new platform it is, as I said above, a highly addictive platform because it’s really easy to use and its fun. I think because its image based that’s its great attraction as you don’t have to read text to find out what going on and its really easy to ‘pin’ images to boards.

Link up with your Website and other Social Media Platforms
The good thing about Pinterest and how it was put together at the start was it was really easy to integrate with your website and other social media platforms, this made it really accessible. The advantage for you is that people are seeing your pins and sharing your pins from lots of different platforms which can only help. Look out for the ‘pin it’ buttons on other platforms and use them.

Fantastic for inbound links
Once you realise that Pinterest has a great feature that means that every pin has a link back to the source and if that’s your website then great as its doubling the chances that the viewer will head on over to your website to see what else is happening. So, create lots of links, and of course Google just loves it.

What’s hot
one of the great things for me is it’s really easy to find out what’s trending in niche products or services. The reason is that all the latest products are being ‘loved’ over at Pinterest so again it’s really easy to find out.

Lookers are turning into buyers
Pinterest has taken most of the steps between discovery and purchase. That means more sales for you! Users are more likely to see a product they love, one that is liked and shared by many others, and be ready to buy it right then. In some cases this can be even more effective than a tweet about a product.

So, I hope you give Pinterest a go as it can really make a difference with your organization. Please, feel free to let me know how you use Pinterest, and if you’re not, how you plan to?
